Document first
Before filing, get an inspection with photos of each slope, test squares and dented metal. It tells you whether a claim is worth opening at all.
File and schedule the adjuster
You open the claim with your insurer. Ask your roofer to be on site when the adjuster inspects, so nothing gets missed.
Review the estimate
Compare the adjuster's estimate to your roofer's. Missed items can be supplemented before work starts. You pay your deductible, by law.
